Advancing Human Understanding with Deep Learning Go AI Engines

My and Attila Egri-Nagy’s third collaborative research article, Advancing Human Understanding with Deep Learning Go ai Engines has now been published, and is readable behind the above link.

More recently, me and Attila have been gearing our research more towards how to best make use of the availability of superhuman ai from our previous focus of identifying ai-assisted cheating. Although the latter is still interesting, we have found the task to be rather difficult, whereas quantitative and qualitative research on the former has much more low-hanging fruit available.

The Game Is Not over Yet – Go in the Post-AlphaGo Era

Recently, my and Associate Professor Egri-Nagy’s second go paper, The Game Is Not over Yet – Go in the Post-AlphaGo Era passed its peer review and got published in the Philosophies open access journal. You can read the article here.

Most of the main content in the article is by Mr Egri-Nagy, but I am responsible for the parts that relate to stronger go players’ point of view. There are also a few tangents to my Bachelor’s thesis, which I was happy to build on.

Preliminary study on anti-cheating passes peer review

I am happy to report that my and Attila Egri-Nagy’s research ‘Derived metrics for the game of Go – intrinsic network strength assessment and cheat-detection’, which I linked on nordicgodojo.eu roughly a month ago, just passed peer review and will be presented in the CANDAR’20 symposium.

Preliminary study on anti-cheating in go

Since March this year, I have been collaborating with Associate Professor Attila Egri-Nagy of the Akita International University on go-related studies, with anti-cheating algorithms as my main interest.

Now, our first, preliminary study on manual anti-cheating analysis as well as intrinsic network strength assessment has been published. Note that this paper has not yet been peer reviewed. Me and Mr Egri-Nagy have a lot of work ahead of us, but the research does show some promise: we have already successfully employed the method described in catching cheating go players.
